Reviews
Solid German food and beer with great service and nice hospitality from staff
Wish I could give it a 4.5 star rating. Like the set up; the art on the wall, the little knick knacks. The tasting platter is a beautiful mix of all things meat; crispy pork belly; just yum, delish schnitzel and sausages and the mustard sauce was mouth watering. The prawns in garlic sauce get better with every bite. Let me warn you though - if you are going there better work up a huge appetite for the food and the beer; so worth it
Never done German before.
Actually the food was absolutely brilliant. My steak was Frikkin amazing. Also the beer was amazing ( I don't normally drink beer)
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience
Best restaurant in Sydney. Food is exquisite & service in exemplary. Rudy is the absolute best host. 20 out of 10!
One of the most interesting dining experience in Sydney, by a mile. You can be assured that you will leave with a story or two to tell afterwards. The venue has been running for over 50 years, and while it certainly isn't to everyones taste (particularly those easily offended...) after an evening here, you can understand why.
Possibly some of the best German food we have ever had. Authentic, well portioned and delicious. We opted for the snails, veal topped with lobster and pork knuckle followed by a grappa Affogato and sticky date pudding.
We had a lovely french lady (so sorry but I forgot your name!) wait our table. She was fantastic. The second our glasses were empty, she was back to fill them up. Incredibly attentive and knowledgeable on the menu.
We took a tour of the wine cellar, boasting thousands of bottles of wine, with another family. Rudi cracked open a 30 year old bottle to share between us all, a beautiful touch and much appreciated. Among many talking points, he shared experiences of Australia in the 70s, highs and lows of the hospitality industry, stories of patrons, wines and beyond.
Towards the end of the night, Max who runs the kitchen stayed back with us to share a beer (and a wine!) and exchange stories of decades gone by. He ran through family histories of photos on the walls... his love for food. With enough notice he will make you anything you like, "You want haggis... no problem. Just give me enough notice." With 24 hours, you can even order a suckling pig, which we look forward to trying in due course. Max will go above and beyond to ensure that everyone is catered to.
I can't believe after many years of living in the area, that I am only just stumbling across Stuyvesant's House now! We look forward to making our way through the menu and sharing the experience with others.
It’s so good to find a home style hearty restaurant. Was our first Tim but not our last that’s for sure. Good welcome, constantly being looked after and the food was not only delicious, but so big and reminded me of my European holiday feasts
Good menu, very well cooked, had the pork knuckle and couldnt finish.
Amasing wine list.
Will be back.
Had a great meal.
Every dish was a hit.
I recommend this place for great simple food done to perfection.
